Wren vs. Rembrandt: Who Is More Mischievous?

When you bring home two Maine Coon kittens, you might expect them to have some similarities. After all, they're the same breed, they're growing up together, and they're both part of the A Velvet Claw family. But Wren and Rembrandt are already showing us just how different two Maine Coons can be. And that brings us to an important question:

Which one is more mischievous?

We're still figuring that one out, but we're having a lot of fun watching their personalities develop along the way.

Wren: Always Ready for the Next Adventure

Queen Wren Isadora admiring from her new perch

If there's something happening, Wren wants to be part of it. She is spontaneous, active, and incredibly playful. Wren always seems to be looking for something to do, something to explore, or something to play with. She has a wonderful energy about her that keeps things interesting. One minute she's busy exploring or playing, and the next she's being incredibly sweet and loving. That combination is one of the things we adore about her. She has plenty of energy, but she also knows how to slow down and enjoy some affection.

Queen Wren is very sweet and loves to have attention just a little!

And then there's food.

Wren absolutely loves to eat!

Queen Wren LOVES her cookies (aka snacks)

We're pretty sure she would happily make a career out of being involved in anything that might possibly lead to a meal. Another thing that stands out about Wren is just how incredibly soft she is. Her coat is absolutely wonderful to touch, which makes those sweet and cuddly moments even better. Wren definitely has the personality of a kitten who wants to know what's going on at all times.

If something interesting is happening, she's probably already on her way to investigate.

Wren's Current Mischief Rating: 9/10

Queen Wren doing what she does best…. playing!!

Her combination of curiosity, energy, and constant desire to be doing something makes her our current front-runner for the title of Most Mischievous. But we're not ready to officially hand her the trophy just yet.

Because then there's Rembrandt...

Rembrandt: The Relaxed Cuddle Bug

King Rembrandt is relaxing with some cuddles on the way to his forever home

Rembrandt has a very different personality. While Wren seems to always be ready for the next adventure, Rembrandt is much more relaxed. He plays when he wants to play. And honestly, we kind of love that about him. Rembrandt has a calm, easygoing personality, but that doesn't mean he's not interested in what's happening around him. He's actually very curious about everything he comes across. He's taking it all in. New sights, new sounds, new things to investigate—Rembrandt wants to know about them. He just seems to approach everything at his own pace.

And then there is his absolute favorite thing:

People.

King Rembrandt loves his attention from people especially cuddles!

Rembrandt is incredibly sweet and loves attention from people. He's already proving himself to be a true cuddle bug, and we have a feeling that his love of cuddles is going to be one of his defining characteristics as he grows. He may not be racing around looking for his next adventure like Wren, but don't let that relaxed personality fool you. We're pretty sure there is a mischievous side to Rembrandt somewhere in there.

We just haven't seen it yet.

Cautious and curious for our King Rembrandt in his new room

Rembrandt's Current Mischief Rating: TBD

We're leaving this one open. Rembrandt is definitely curious, but so far, his relaxed personality and love of attention have been much more obvious than any serious mischief.

But we're watching him.

Very closely.

Because we have a feeling that little bit of curiosity could eventually turn into something much more mischievous.

Two Maine Coons, Two Completely Different Personalities

Queen Wren loves to watch Cat TV!

One of the things we're enjoying most about raising Wren and Rembrandt together is getting to know them as individuals. It's easy to talk about Maine Coon characteristics as though every cat will behave the same way. They're often described as friendly, intelligent, playful, affectionate, and curious—and both Wren and Rembrandt certainly have some of those qualities. But they're also very much their own cats.

Wren brings energy, spontaneity, and playfulness into the room. She wants to be involved and seems ready for whatever comes next.

Rembrandt brings a completely different energy. He's relaxed, affectionate, curious, and very people-oriented. He's perfectly happy to play when the mood strikes him, but he's just as happy getting attention and settling in for some cuddles.

And that's what makes watching them grow so much fun.

So... Who Is More Mischievous?

Right now, Wren wins.

She's active, playful, spontaneous, and always looking for something to do. If there is mischief to be found, Wren seems much more likely to discover it. But we're keeping an eye on Rembrandt. He's curious about everything, and we haven't seen his full mischievous side yet. Maybe he's secretly planning something. Maybe he's simply going to remain our laid-back cuddle bug. Only time will tell.

For now, we're just enjoying every stage of getting to know these two very different Maine Coon kittens.

Wren keeps us on our toes. Rembrandt keeps us cuddling.

And together, they make life at A Velvet Claw a whole lot more fun.

The A Velvet Claw Mischief Championship remains officially undecided... for now. So, the mischievousness battle between Wren and Rembrandt is officially on! Who will claim the title of Mischief Champ? Follow along to see who gets into the most trouble, causes the most chaos, and keeps us laughing the hardest.
